Ken Galloway is a writer/director working out of Toronto, Canada. As a filmmaker, he is best know for directing a documentary entitled “Ways on Wheels” – a project narrated by George Stroumboulopoulos – which received numerous festival honours. Yet he is also very active in the music video arena, and has yet to direct a music video that hasn’t received considerable airplay on national television. Born to a British father and Japanese mother, Galloway split his childhood growing up between Toronto and Tokyo, and fell in love with graffiti art as a teenager. Working under his graffiti alias, he has been commissioned to do solo art shows, live painting performances and large-scale murals in cities around the world.
Earning a BA in comparative literature, as well as a writing certificate from the Universityof Western Ontario, Galloway’s writing has also been published in numerous publications including The Toronto Star, The National Post, enRoute Magazine and MSN.com. One such article garnered him a radio interview with the BBC. Yet in spite of all this, his true passion remains filmmaking.
Galloway’s film work combines a unique perspective cultivated from his extensive time spent in Tokyo, a strong aesthetic sense developed through his art work, and a superior storytelling ability crafted through his work as a professional writer. One of his recent music videos, “West Coast” (D-Sisive featuring Jason Schwartzman) was lovingly hailed as “the best video ever” by Chart Attack magazine.
