LP Casso is a producer, engineer, and rap artist, born in Queens, New York. Music is his dream and passion, and some would call him a fanatic about it.
LP was exposed to music and tragedy at an early age by his father, a DJ, who was murdered in Jamaica, Queens in 1985. He believes some of his fathers’ talent comes through him. His uncle, Michael Murphy, who some may remember from the group “The System” (songs, such as: Don’t Disturb this Groove, You’re in My System) gave him his first set of turntables and a mixer. It was in 1993 while listening to music in his bedroom that he came to the realization that he could put words together just as well as those he was listening to and make his mark in the industry. However at the age of twelve he had no clue of where to start. Having a huge collection of “LPS” and tapes, over twelve hundred, he became the go to guy in the hood to get an album done. Doing this work from his home studio, people began calling him LP, and he later added on the “Casso” to distinguish himself from others. Many opportunities for success were missed due to the mean streets, and it took some time to have his dream become a reality. He was known in the streets and by several in the industry for his talent and work, but wanted to make it on his own.
He listens to all genres of music, and his early influences were artists few people had heard of. . Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt was one of his favorites along with The LOX , Money, Power, Respect. His style can’t be classified and just put into a box, and that’s how he likes it.
