Where to begin? I first met The Creepshow back in 2005 when they had just released their debut album “Sell Your Soul” on Stomp Records. Entranced by the rollicking rockabilly vibes, and guiltily gratified by the homages to classic horror films – specifically those of the zombie variety – I was hooked.
Fast-forward past 5 years and many adventures in alcoholism to present day. I had spoken with The Creepshow’s Tour Manager only days prior to their arrival in London after coming off of a Canadian tour. I made the arrangements to meet up at Fanshawe College to perform the interview and also see them headline a free show. The Stiff Wires (notably of MuchMusic’s Disband) opened the show with some great old school punk.
To my utter delight, The Outback Shack at Fanshawe had a bar. With very little prompting from anybody in the vicinity, I made my way to the counter. After a few trips I had found a healthy medium between Judge and Vince Neil in terms of sobriety.
After the interview and the show had been completed, this is where things start to get a little fuzzy. Let me break down the events of the night in bullet point (may or may not be in correct chronological order):
-Split a 40 of vodka with the band’s merch girl (and also fiancée of the drummer) Mandy
-Hopped in the tour van
-Due to a faulty GPS, we relied on my somewhat questionable navigational expertise
-Wound up half an hour out of town because we took a wrong turn
-Made it back to London to the bar 10 minutes before close
-Sean and I proceeded to raid the fridge (50 50′s!)
-I blacked out
According to some decently reliable sources, I had my tongue down more than one person’s throat that night and maybe did some…other…things…I’m… not too proud of. Nothing has been confirmed with legitimate photography or surveillance so I’m willing to dismiss these social faux pas as nothing more than mere rumour……..
The good news is, I now have a term for being completely shithouse drunk: Creepshow Level Drunk. You can use that one, it’s a freebie!
Check out the frickin’ interview and the photo gallery, you jerkwad!
