Project Mayhem – TIMA’s 2010

July of 2010 was a very eventful month.  Not only is operating and maintaining several departments of a start-up business a trying and mentally taxing career choice, I also had the opportunity to head to Toronto for the Toronto Independent Music Awards (TIMA’s).

Myself and my hetero-lifemate Matty G hopped into the soccermom-mobile with our trusty videographer Andrew.  After fueling up on Rockstars, Player’s, and gasoline (for the aforementioned suburban tank) we hit the road to the dot.

The first night we arrive in town, we waste absolutely no time.  First stop on the trip was the liquor store.  Maybe it’s my small town roots or my inability to perceive life through a set of sober eyes, but I have a new favourite place on Earth.  The liquor store we were at was directly connected to the Train Station/Subway and seemed like the square footage was approaching infinity.  A veritable candy store of intoxicating delights!

With our drinks in hand, we made our way to one of my BFF’s apartment.  Mr. David Lee attended to our needs with the utmost respect as we, and his Argentinian roomate, and Mexican compadré proceeded to dummy a bottle of the finest tequila.  Feeling like we had wasted enough of our lives drinking, we went downtown to check out The Creepshow at the Tattoo Rock Parlour.

While it was no surprise that they put on one hell of a show, the Spaniards in our motley crue of drunkards were so caught off guard by this new musical sensation that they were not even aware existed.  After the show we made our way downstairs to the backstage section of the venue.  Immediately walking through the band room’s door, I was handed a 6 pack of beer by Sean.  Shotgun. Repeat.

The next day was the Awards show.  I had to get ready!  In what can only be described as the most humid day on record, Andrew and I walked to the Phoenix with all of the gear.  Sopping wet by the time we arrived, we were greeted with the pleasant wafting of neutral, room temperature, air.  What bliss!  What ecstacy!  What…..free….bar?????

The TIMA’s were great.
